Originally founded by Dr. James L. Towe in the 1960s, it was rebranded as Loudoun Valley Family Practice when Dr. Michael Wenzel and Dr. James H. Towe acquired the practice in the late 1990s. Upon Dr. Wenzel’s retirement in December 2024, Dr. Ashley Beckum joined the practice.

Loudoun Valley Family Practice (LVFP) remains one of the most well-known doctor’s offices in Western Loudoun County.

Ashley Beckum, MD

Dr. Beckum, originally from Winnipeg, Canada, completed her medical training at Saba University of Medicine in the Netherlands, Antilles and fulfilled her residency in Maine. Known for her patient-centered approach, she specializes in women’s health, weight management, and simple skin procedures. Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Beckum enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with her husband, daughter and their two dogs.

Katheryn Caro, PA-C

Originally from Minnesota, Katheryn Caro now proudly calls the Purcellville area home. She earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Shenandoah University, following several years teaching high school science—an experience that sparked her passion for patient education. Katheryn enjoys caring for individuals at every stage of life and is dedicated to building long-term relationships that support her patients’ health and wellness goals. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys running, knitting, and especially gardening with her husband and four children.
